LOCI-2R Level of Care Index-2R

BENEFITS

  • Practical way to implement the ASAM PPC-2R criteria.
  • Comprehensive documentation of placement and treatment planning indications.
  • Document multiple assessments during an episode of care on one form.

What the LOCI is:

The LOCI-2R is an instrument designed to aid clinicians in implementing the newly- revised Patient Placement Criteria. Its intent is to simplify the use of the ASAM PPC 2-R criteria. It guides in the assessment process of a client. Second, it aids in documenting treatment placement and provides planning information for the six assessment dimensions of the ASAM PPC-2R.

After its first use, the one form can be used again. It can cover up to 5 subsequent assessments of the same client, as well as transfer or discharge evaluations. Every level of care defined by the ASAM PPC-2R is covered in this instrument.

What the LOCI is not:

The LOCI-2R is not a psychometric tool, but rather a means of guiding assessment and summarizing findings from evaluation interviews, assessment instruments, personal history, and data from the clinical records.

RAATE: Recovery Attitude and Treatment Evaluator

BENEFITS

  • Strengthens individualized care planning
  • Objectively documents placement
  • Measures treatment progress for utilization review
  • Provides quantitative documentation for reimbursement
  • Cuts through complexities of ASAM criteria
  • Helps meet standards for JCAHO and CARF

What does the RAATE consist of?

The RAATE instruments consist of two distinct but interrelated assessment tools, the RAATE-CE and RAATE-QI.

What does it measure? They are intended to tap five key dimensions considered important for treatment placement and planning:
1. resistance to treatment
2. resistance to continuing care
3. acuity of biomedical problems
4. acuity of psychiatric/psychological problems
5. social/family environmental status.

Is the RAATE the same as the ASAM Patient Placement Criteria?

The five RAATE dimensions are compatible with, but not identical to ASAM Patient Placement Criteria. The instruments are easy to score and can be applied to placement decisions based on the ASAM or other criteria (easy-to-use ASAM conversion tables are incorporated into each instrument). The RAATE instruments do not contribute to a diagnosis and should be used only after a diagnosis of abuse or dependence has been established.

BEI: Behaviors and Experiences Inventory

BENEFITS

  • Provides childhood indications of ADHD
  • Documents history of Conduct Disorder behaviors
  • Identifies Antisocial Personality Disorder symptoms
  • Covers the history of abuse victimization
  • Identifies persons with aggressive behaviors

What does the BEI cover?

The BEI is a structured set of 50 questions designed to elicit information about behaviors and experiences before the age of 15 and after the age of 18. The questions cover reading issues, a history of sexual, physical, and emotional victimization, and indications of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Conduct Disorder, and Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD).

Application of the BEI:

The BEI is intended for use in the evaluation of individuals where behavioral problems and a history of victimization may be likely.

It was designed for use with individuals who were being evaluated for clinical services after having been arrested or upon release from correctional facilities. It is not a comprehensive assessment for these conditions and experiences, but is intended as a screening tool to alert clinicians to issues in these areas.
