A #1
Focus To produce more highly-trained supervisors on using the ASAM Patient Placement Criteria as the organizing structure and principles for comprehensive assessment, treatment & systems development. The ultimate goal is to deliver precise, clear, person-centered services to the clients who come to us as people in need. In turn, well-trained supervisors will be knowledgeable to provide ongoing local support on these topics when they return home. A supervisor can become a stronger internal advocate for higher-quality care.
#2 Focus To teach the "how-tos" of presention. How to conduct an excellent orientation/ introductory training to new staff, as well as delivering a strong inservice training.
These
key emphases were formulated from observing the following. Many clinicians already have some understanding about the ASAM Patient Placement Criteria (PPC). As they strive sincerely to implement concepts of continuum of care, levels of care, clinically-driven individualized treatment, they still struggle with how to use complex placement criteria. There is always a need for improved skills to carefully assess clients in a multidimensional way. There is always a need to document a more targeted and focused, individualized treatment plan. Clinicians continue to be challenged with how to effectively state their case with supervisors and managed care.
Many clients are at various stages of readiness to change as regards their substance or mental health problems. There is an interesting parallel here. Many staff members also are at various stages of change regarding how to move to multidimensional assessment and individualized treatment using the ASAM PPC.
Am I a candidate for the "Intensive"? >>
Can you recognize systems problems? Issues within your team? >> Have you already had basic training on understanding the concepts and use of the ASAM PPC 2-R? This will be a small, exclusive group who will work one-on-one with Dr. Mee-Lee. The group will be small enough to ensure very individualized instruction for every participant.
If
you fit these criteria, you are a candidate.
2. Organize assessment data to make proper placement decisions. 3. Use case material to practice individualization of problems and treatment plans. 4. Review how to improve the range of treatment services and develop service tracks using the assessment dimensions of the Criteria, especially for those in early stages of readiness to change, and for dual diagnosis clients. 5. Demonstrate how to assess staff readiness to change and commitment to an accountable individualized staff development plan.
Tell
me about follow-up training once the face-to-face "Intensive" is over?
