This
full day training was audiotaped. It is a series of 3 audiotapes with an accompanying
handout.
The
training is designed to improve practitioners' abilities to assess, engage, and
treat people with co-occurring mental health and substance use problems.
Practical strategies and methods are offered to help change interviewing methods,
treatment planning and documentation, program components, range of services, and
policies to better engage the dually diagnosed client.
Continuing
education credits are available when using this series as a home study course.
In
this course you will learn how to:
- Identify
clinical dilemmas when working with dually diagnosed individual
- Develop
assessment strategies, techniques and priorities to determine how to deal with
alcohol and other drug use in those with mental illness and vice versa.
- Employ
clinical strategies to engage the client and to develop a treatment plan that
meets the client's individual needs with a clear understanding of the client's
"stage of readiness" to change.
- Pinpoint
the program, staff and systems necessary to develop 'person-centered' services,
rather than perpetuating fragmented care for dually diagnosed clients.
